🔍 What is the GPS Sport Class all about?
This discipline is a true test of flight efficiency and strategy. Unlike the Scale categories, the focus here is on pure performance over a triangular course defined by virtual GPS waypoints.
Key technical parameters of the race:
- Self-launch capability: Models take off using their own propulsion system, which increases independence and adds to the dynamic nature of the competition.
- Start parameters: Entry into the course is limited to a maximum altitude of 400 meters and a maximum entry speed of 120 km/h.
- Weight limit: The maximum permitted take-off weight (MTOW) for the aircraft is 7 kg.
- Time window: Pilots have a 30-minute flight slot to complete as many laps as possible.
🏆 Why visit Jaroměř?
- 4th Edition: An event that has firmly established its place in the calendar, attracting top-tier pilots who excel at maximizing thermals and their aircraft's glide ratio.
- Josefov Bastion CUP: A unique blend of sporting excitement set against the historic backdrop of the Josefov Fortress.
- Cutting-edge Technology: See the latest telemetry and navigation systems in action, providing pilots with real-time audio feedback for every meter of the course.
- Three-day Battle: The expanded format allows for more rounds and fairer results, even in changing weather conditions.
A tip for spectators and participants: GPS Sport Class is all about patience and "reading the air." Come and witness how pilots manage a 7 kg model’s altitude for a full 30 minutes, all while racking up one lap after another!
